Creating a Home Office on a Budget

Working from home is becoming increasingly popular in this digital age. However, remote employees are often left without a space to do their jobs efficiently and without distraction. Here are a few things you can do to build your own home office without building up your credit card debt.

Buy Used or Clearance Items

Large items like printers, ergonomic chairs, desktop monitors, and laptops can quickly put a dent in your wallet and leave you with little spending for much else. Shopping in budget-friendly stores (think Wal-Mart or The Dollar Store) instead of big-name office supply shops can save you money on your pricier needs. Hitting up the clearance aisle or thrift stores for things like pre owned desks, older version laptops, and on-sale pens and paper can leave you with a larger budget for other office necessities

Optimize Space

Figuring out where to put your home office can be difficult. While you want somewhere you can focus, updating, organizing, and repurposing a whole room in your house can be costly and time-consuming. Consider sectioning off a corner dedicated to work using a stand-alone screen or hanging a curtain rod. If you are easily distracted, using a space that doesn’t already have a designated function, like an attic or basement can be a cheap way to keep you focused.

Decorate Yourself

Just because you are on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t make your workspace creative, inspiring, and comfortable. Grab your overalls and paintbrush and cover the walls with a relaxing color- doing it yourself instead of hiring outside help can not only save you money but can also help you hone your home improvement skills. Adorn your desk with pictures of family and friends or your kids' artwork for some personal flair.

Being a stay-at-home employee should be an easy way to earn income while saving on things like transportation costs and professional attire. Follow these simple steps so creating your home office won’t put you in debt.

Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Buying Antiques

So you’re ready to graduate from flat pack furniture to something a little classier. Maybe you’re thinking you’d like to add some quality antiques to your home inventory. If you're more used to furniture that needs to be assembled with an Allen wrench, there are a few things to keep in mind, when you’re looking for antiques.

Be Prepared to find it... or not

Whatever you're looking for, you might not find it right away. Antique stores can’t manufacture pieces to your specifications, after all. The hunt is part of the experience and part of the fun, but just as you must be prepared to keep looking, you should also be prepared to move fast when you do find what you’re looking for. If you wait and come back later, it might be gone. So be prepared with packers and movers St Louis MO or your area, so you can lay down your money and get that perfect piece home ASAP.

Do Your Research

The internet is an incredible resource. Most professional antique dealers use the internet to identify and price their antiques, and so can you. If you’re concerned about the quality, or simply wanting to know more, the internet is only a few clicks away — or you can ask the shop owner if they know any more about the piece you’re interested in, or the thing you’re looking for.

Cold Hard Cash

Antique dealers are generally small business owners. Some of them don’t even take credit cards, and most of them won’t have a system for layaway. On top of that, sometimes you might find that a better bargain is available if you’re willing to pay cash. If you can pay cash, make sure the dealer knows that. It doesn’t hurt to ask if there’s a discount for cash sales. Soon enough you’ll be antiquing like a pro!

A Quick Guide to Musical Theater

Many cities have thriving musical theater scenes that attract visitors from all over the world. Broadway, for example, attracted nearly 15 million attendances last year alone. Almost two-thirds of that number was from tourists, many of whom cited seeing a show as a reason for visiting in the first place. Are you considering seeing a production on a trip? Here are some things to know.

Musical vs Cabaret

Musical theater (or musicals) and cabarets are popular options available in many areas. Musicals are theatrical and contain elements of music, acting and dance. They are traditionally viewed in large to small venues with a group of performers. Cabarets are also a type of theatrical entertainment involving song and dance, but these are usually performed in pubs, casinos, restaurants or nightclubs. Check online for reviews of local productions and venue information such as a cabaret in New York City.

On and Off Broadway

While the street in Manhattan is the origin of term, Broadway, Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway productions are not designated so much for their locations as they are for the size of the venue. Broadway performances are shown in New York halls that accommodate 500 viewers or more. Off-Broadway theaters hold between 100 and 499 attendees, and Off-Off Broadway seat fewer than 100. Many popular musicals began as Off-Broadway and later became Broadway shows.

Getting Tickets

Check online for the best way to purchase tickets. Although tickets can be bought over the Internet or by phone, sometimes the best prices are only available in-person. In some cases, deeply discounted tickets can be purchased by waiting in line on the day of a show. In an effort to fill seats, prices may be cut drastically just before showtime.
The thrill of enjoying a live theatrical performance is hard to beat. It may be the sole reason for traveling to a particular place, or one part of a larger trip itinerary. Advance planning is often necessary to secure tickets, but less expensive shows for smaller audiences can be just as entertaining.

A Reliable Pair Of Shoes

Is your air conditioner ailing? Another reason to call for ac repair is a perceptible decrease in air flow. You could try removing the filter from your unit and cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner and rinsing the filter in the bathtub to remove dirt and grime. If this doesn't improve your air conditioner's performance, it may be a problem with an internal part, which would be something a repair person would have to fix.

No Chill

The most noticeable issue with a malfunctioning air conditioner is that it stops blowing cool air. This will mean a call to the ac repair company. Give An Older Home A Modern Update

As excited as people get about buying a modern new home, it may surprise you to hear that just as many enjoy the charm and character of an older home, especially mid-century modern. But not everything that goes with one of these homes is all that charming. Outdated finishes, small windows and broad expanses of avocado green paint might have you giving it a second thought, but don’t give up – small fixes can make a huge difference.

The Ground You Walk on

When that shag carpeting needs to be replaced or you can’t take the linoleum in the kitchen anymore, start thinking wood. Hardwood floors can bring your home into this century faster than many other choices. Choose something warm and homey like Monarch Plank European oak for a look that will last.

Window of Opportunity

Consider replacing those tiny, energy efficient windows with a wall of glass if you have a great view. The resulting light can completely change the mood in your home and take away the closed in feeling. Windows are so much more energy efficient now that you can afford the extra size.

Modern Palette

Change up old worn paint and offbeat colors for something neutral and soothing for an instant style update. Lighter colors can help create a more open feel, and you may want to use the same color throughout the home for a cohesive style. Bring in accent colors using interesting accessories and textures.

Make a Big Entrance

If you don’t replace your entry door at least give it a fresh coat of paint in a color that pops in contrast to exterior home colors. Invest in new outdoor lighting, a few colorful potted plants, and a classy welcome mat to give your entrance a whole new vibe.

Start with just one project at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Painting the walls or installing wood floors can make the biggest impact. Your home is worth the effort and the enjoyment that comes with it is priceless.

If you are finding your horse getting winded and breathing heavier sooner in your walks and rides, it is time to figure out a new fitness regimen to get their muscular and cardiovascular strength improved. Below are some tips for improving your horse's fitness levels.

Horse Jumps

Depending on the level of fitness your horse needs improvement on, you might need to start with easier exercises first. When ready, a horse can get a lot of benefits from horse jumps. It is a great way to boost muscle strength and endurance. You can find affordable, used horse jumps from reputable online merchants like the one found at

Long Reining Or Lunging

Lunging is a great way to help your horse develop muscles on their backs without a rider weighing down on them. Depending on the current fitness level of your horse, start out with two or three days of lunging and reining. Each session should last no more than 30 minutes. Give your horse breaks if they seem overly tired.

Trail Riding Or Hacking

Riding trails and going on long hacks are the perfect way to build up your horse's fitness without having to drill them. Exploring new trails can be enjoyable for the horse and rider. It won't even feel like exercise. Pay attention to how your horse is acting through the ride. If they seem to get tired, don't push them too hard.
These are just a few beginner tips for getting your horse in better shape. The key is to start slow and pace your horse. If your horse has been sick or is getting older, seek help and supervision from your local vet. They will be able to advise you on best practices for your specific horse and health requirements. As your horse gets fitter, you will be able to start pushing them a little harder. In time, your horse will be much happier and healthier. You may just find yourself being healthier as well. -- a positive post

Going Green in the Workplace

Everyone wants to do all that they can to help the environment. While you may already be recycling, using energy efficient bulbs, and reducing waste at home, you might not be implementing these same values at work. Use the following suggestions to encourage your workmates to do their part in preserving our world for the future.

Recycling will reduce the amount of trash your workplace generates on a day to day basis. Set up bins where employees can deposit their empty plastic bottles along with a second bin for cans. Generate enthusiasm for this project by turning the cans in for money at your local recycling center. If you live in a state that requires a deposit for plastic bottles, turn the empty ones back in for more money. Use this cash to host an annual company party.

Change the Bulbs

Large factories already have companies that take care of bulb replacement, but if your business is small, you need to rethink all of your lighting. Replace bulbs in table lamps and other fixtures with energy efficient versions. They last much longer than traditional bulbs, and they use less wattage which can reduce the monthly utility bills.

Reduce Waste

Dont think that just because your business has a large dumpster for trash that it isn't important to reduce waste. If you are selling a product, consider encouraging customers to bring in their own bags rather then having you pass out plastic ones. Use wiping rags made out of reclaimed textiles for cleaning, and consider having a water cooler installed rather then purchasing bottled drinks, and place a compost bin outside where food scraps from the lunch room can go to good use.
These steps may seem small and insignificant, but if every business began practicing these values, the impact on the environment could be tremendous. Along with being environmentally friendly, your business will be able to proudly say that they are doing their part when it comes to saving the planet.

How To Choose An Online Pet Supply Store

Dogs come in a variety of shapes, sizes, breeds and needs. Each one in your home has a special place in your heart. Your fur babies mean the world to you, but you may wonder what is the best way to choose a pet supply store. Treat your dog to the things they need and save money in the process.
An online pet store should have everything you need to take care of your fur baby. Dogs need quality food, water and food bowls, beds, accessories, medicine and grooming supplies. Having more than one option to choose from allows you to select the product that is best suited for your pet. Smaller dogs need smaller beds and toys. Larger dogs need big beds. White furry pets may need whitening shampoo to keep their coat looking sparkly. Visit Vet Products Direct for dog products that help you take care of your pet.
An online pet store offers convenient shopping any time of day. Remember that you need to buy dog food at 11pm? Don’t wait, simply add it to your cart and order. Online shopping also allows you to order supplies when you have trouble leaving the house but still need to care for your pet. Busy pet owners don’t have to worry about finding a brick-and-mortar store, browsing the shelves, waiting in line then driving to their next destination. Using a website offers greater flexibility and convenience for pet owners.
Owning a pet can be expensive depending on their needs. A pet store that offers competitive pricing on products helps you save money on caring for your dog. Ensure the store offers the quality products you need and want at an affordable price. Saving money shouldn’t come at the cost of losing out on quality products.
Return Policies
Sometimes an outfit, bed or toy doesn’t work out. The pet store of your choice should have return policies that benefit you as a consumer. Look thoroughly at their return policies before you order a new or different product. Some stores only take returns on unused or unopened items. For online returns, look at the shipping policies on returns to see if you are responsible for the cost.
Payment Security
With data breaches happening to retailers making the news, it is important for shoppers to only shop at locations that offer secure payment options. Web addresses should start with https denoting that they are a secure site. Without the s, there is potential for a third-party to take your information.
Coupons, deals and sales offer consumers an easy way to save money on their pet supplies. Not all retailers accept manufacturers coupons though. Some retailers have their own loyalty rewards programs that help you earn money towards future purchases. Regularly shopping with these suppliers rewards you with money saving benefits.
Subscription Options
Many online retailers have moved to a subscription or autoship option for regularly needed pet products. If you know you need to order a bag of food once a month, selecting the autoship option can often save you a certain percentage off the price each month. Subscription services allow you to select the frequency of product shipping and automatically bill your credit or debit card when shipped.
Many pet stores guarantee their products offering money-back if dissatisfied. Before you make a large purchase, look at their guarantee policy in case the product doesn’t work out as expected. Items fall apart or become damaged during the shipping process. A good pet supplier should work with you until you are satisfied.
Next time you need to purchase pet supplies consider these tips to ensure you are getting the best value from the retailer. Taking care of your dog comes with many rewards, but it doesn’t have to break the bank.

5 Things Only People In Michigan Do

Michiganders are a proud bunch with unmistakable personalities all their own. Their state pride is unmatched, and you won’t find it elsewhere. Not surprisingly, residents of Michigan have their own special vocabulary and quirks you’ll only find in Pure Michigan.

Only People from Michigan:

  1. Use their hand to explain where they’re from--forget a map. Anyone from Michigan will show you on their left hand where they’re from. Because Michigan is shaped like a mitten, any good michigander knows exactly where on the “hand” their hometown is located.

  1. Drink pop, not soda--if you are looking for a cold, carbonated beverage while in Michigan, you’ll want to order a pop, not “soda” or “coke”. Don’t be surprised if you’re served Faygo.

  1. Know what a party store is--you can’t have a party without a trip to the party store, the place to buy your favorite beverages.

  1. Know what a yooper is, and go up north on vacation.  Driving up north usually means driving up I-75 and vacationing in a cabin in the woods or a cottage on the lake. Michiganders affectionately describe those from the Upper Peninsula, or U.P., as “yoopers”.

  1. Can properly pronounce Mackinac, euchre, Ypsilanti, and Sault St. Marie. Letters be darned--michiganders know the proper way to say these are Macinaw, yoo-cur, Ip-sal-an-tee, and Soo Saint Marie, no exceptions.

We could go on all day about all the wonderful things that define Michiganders, like their blind devotion to the Lions, their love of Vernor’s Ginger ale, how they like to enjoy Coney dogs and pasties, and crossing the bridge to visit Windsor. You know you’re from Michigan if you do any number of these things.

Michigan is known for its beautiful lakes. It is also one of the largest producers of apples, blueberries and cherries in the nation, as well as the second largest grower of Christmas trees. Michigan is the home to La-Z-Boy recliners and motor city.

And, if you’re a sportsman, you know that november 15th is a sacred day marking the beginning of deer season. Hunters looking for their little hunting paradise can find it for sale in Michigan, where deer are plentiful.

Common Electrical Issues That Electricians Are Masters At Fixing

According to the World Bank, 100 percent of people in the United States have access to electricity. Americans have had access to electricity for nearly 150 years, ever since the first commercial power plant was opened for business in the early 1880s. Even though electricity is the driving force behind the World Wide Web, computers, smartphones, and nearly every appliance inside modern American homes, not too many Americans are familiar enough with electrical circuitry to even think about fixing electrical issues that arise in their homes. Here are some of the most common electrical issues in homes and how they can be fixed.

Light Switches Aren't Working

Most homes in the United States have at least 10 light switches spread throughout them. If just one of them goes out of commission, homeowners feel as if their entire homes are broken. A good way to fix faulty light switches is to take them out of the wall and reconnect the wiring behind them. In rare cases, light switches might need to be replaced entirely.

Flickering Light Bulbs

Although some people associate flickering light bulbs with ghosts or paranormal activity, light fixtures are usually to blame. After disconnecting power to the light fixture in question, screw everything together as tightly as possible and then see if the bulb continues to flicker when people walk by. If it continues to flicker, get a new light bulb. If these two fixes don't work, you might need to reconnect loose wiring behind the fixture.

An Entire Room's Electrical Devices Goes Out

In such cases, the most likely culprit is overloading your home's electrical capacity. Try connecting fewer items in the room in which all its devices go out. If this doesn't work, you might need to upgrade your home's capacity for electrical power. Fixing electrical issues in homes, even if they're simple fixes and the ideology behind such problems is basic, is something that most homeowners shell off responsibility to professionals. If you need to hire a professional electrician orange park fl, reach out to us for prompt, high-quality service.
