Our family has a long-standind tradition of making Friday night family night. We have a special dinner, play games, and enjoy time together as a family. One of our favorite meals for family night is mexican-actually it's one of our favorite meals period! Sometimes making mexican can take a lot of time though, which takes away from our family time together. However, when I heard about the new Old El Paso meals, I was excited to try them out and see if they would taste as good as homemade mexican.
General Mills sent me a package that included 1 coupon for a free Old El Paso Frozen Entree, Mexican Chip and Dip Bowl Serving Platter, and a $10.00 Visa gift card to purchase the extras for our meal. The Old El Paso entrees are in the freezer section of our local grocery store, and there was a nice variety to choose from-enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas and burritos, all with different fillings. I chose the Steak Fajitas; these come in a bag with a mixture of beef steak strips, fire roasted onions, and fire roasted red and green bell peppers. The meal does not include the tortillas, so we made sure to grab some while at the store. The bag said it makes 6 fajitas, and I found that to be just about right.
When Friday night rolled around, I was anxious to see how quickly the meal would be ready, and how it would taste. The fajita ingredients are quick and easy to heat up; simply pour the bag into a heated, oiled skillet, and cook for about 10 minutes. Then simply serve on a warm tortilla, and add toppings of your choice! I just sprinkled some cheese on and slathered it with sour cream-one of my favorite things about mexican food-and it was delicious! The rest of the family enjoyed the fajitas as well. I love knowing that I can now make a tasty mexican meal in a matter of minutes on family night, so we get to spend more time having fun!

Quick and tasty fajitas! |
Of course, to go along with the fajitas, we needed some tortilla chips and a couple different dips, and the chip and dip serving platter came in handy. This was nice to leave out after dinner too, so everyone could enjoy snacking during the games!
One of my readers will receive an Old El Paso Gift Pack identical to mine! (Includes 1 Free Old El Paso Entree Coupon, $10.00 Visa Gift Card and Mexican Chip and Dip Serving Platter).

ReplyDeleteHard to choose between tacos and meat/veggie burritos.
ReplyDeleteWe love tacos! My youngest daughter could eat them for every single meal, lol!
ReplyDeleteI would say a popular style of food is Italian, but that is giving Italian food to much credit. If you take away pizza, Italian food probably falls near the bottom. Mexican food ranks way up there, but there is something about kids and pizza that is inseparable.
ReplyDeleteWe love chicken enchiladas, thanks!

Honestly - My Honey/Hubby LOVES Mexican, Me too. So we both look forward to what we call TACO NIGHT - but it's actually a catch all name for any/all things Mexican (and we also allow Tex-Mex, South American, Cuban, even Spanish cuisines) but mostly the man wants the to order from the Traditional Menu:
ReplyDeleteTacos, Enchilada,Tostadas. Burritos, Quesadillas, Nachos, Tortilla Soup and Taco Salad - all are favorites - and sometimes Margaritas to go with them!
