Stay Fit And Lose Weight With BodyMedia CORE Armband!

Okay, I have to be honest-this is my first experience with a tool like this, and I was seriously a little unsure of how it worked. Not to mention if it would really make a difference in my daily activity. I received the CORE Armband from BodyMedia for review, and I am looking forward to seeing the results after a couple weeks of use. For now though, I just wanted to share what I think so far, and how it works.

The CORE Armband arrived at my door the very next day after ordering-so when you order, be prepared for super fast service! I was able to get it set up that evening, and start use the next day. You have to activate the armband online, and set up an account to track your progress. This involves adding your weight, height, age, activity level, and goal weight. Then, BodyMedia gives you several options for weight loss. How much you'd like to lose per week, how much daily activity, etc. After selecting your preference, you're given the daily goals, and you're ready to go. 

The armband has to charge before use, but it only took a couple hours to get a full charge (which is supposed to last 4-7 days, but after only using it a couple days, I can't comment on that yet. Be sure to check back in a few weeks for results!). The next morning I put on my armband before my morning walk. Surprisingly, once the armband is on I seriously forget I'm wearing it. The elasticized band is snug enough to ensure a correct fit, but doesn't pinch, pull, or irritate in the least. 

After a full day of use, I decided to sync the data, just to see how I was doing on my goals for the first day. To sync, simply plug the USB cord (provided) into your PC or Mac, and it automatically adds the day's data to your activity manager. I was so surprised to see that I had exceeded my goals for physical activity and calories burned. Over 3 hours of physical activity (45 minutes of intense activity) meant almost 3,000 calories burned in my first day of use! I was also able to keep my calorie intake right on target, because I kept track of everything I ate and drank. 

Needless to say, after such a great start I am looking forward to the next few weeks and seeing how the CORE Fit Armband will help with my fitness goals! Be sure to check back in September for an update on my experience with the BodyMedia CORE Armband!


  1. I have never used a product like this, but I am thinking about it. It would be fun to have a activity manager and learn how to use this.

  2. This is great for fitness motivation. I like that it is easy to use.

  3. This sounds like a great product! I think having this track my calories burned would actually motivate me to work out more. I also like that you didn't notice that you were wearing it - I've always been skeptical that the armbands would be bulky and inconvenient.

  4. Great item, and I like that you charge it up. I had a pedometer armband but the batteries ran out so quickly I stopped using it.
