No, don't get excited-I'm not moving or planning a move anytime in the near future. However, I have dreamed about moving into a somewhat-larger home. We do okay in our house most of the time, but when we have company over-especially when we have friends visiting who stay for a few nights-things can get rather cramped. So, I started thinking about what I would want in a new home (just dreaming, in case the opportunity does arise at some point). Additionally, I have put some thought into where I would like to move, if I would want to move further east (my most-likely choice) or stay in the midwest, where I could go house shopping with ReMax Kansas City, or in another nearby city. Both the midwest and the east have their advantages, but I think being in the mountains of Tennessee or North Carolina would be my first choice!
However, back to the home. I came up with a few requirements that I would look for before purchasing a house. Honestly my biggest need is not for a huge bedroom or a 2-car garage. It would be a large kitchen with plenty of counter space! With all the cooking and baking I do, finding enough room to work can be difficult in our current home, so I would absolutely check out the kitchen first thing when viewing a possible home.
Another biggie for me is bathrooms. Although not quite a requirement, I would love to have 2 full bathrooms. For many years we had only 1 bathroom in our home, and when we moved here (1 1/2 bathrooms) I was amazed at how much difference it made! Now the family can prepare for Church or some special event in half the time, since we have double the mirrors and countertops. Definitely would not enjoy going back to only 1 bathroom!
One last aspect I would look at for my "dream home" is the property. I would enjoy living on some acreage (even just a couple acres) situated in the country, yet not too far away from a decent-sized city. I don't want to have to drive an hour to Wal-Mart, but nor would I ever want to live right in a city!
How about you? Are you happy where you live, or do you have a "dream home" too? Feel free to share!
