Anyways, after reading through the booklets and learning how Nutrisystem works, I was impressed. Unlike many (or maybe most) other diets, Nutrisystem doesn't just help you lose weight and then leave you stranded. Instead, they teach you how to choose the right foods and portion amounts so after you're through with the program, you can continue to eat in a way that ensures you stay at your goal weight! Nutrisystem is as much about teaching you to eat healthy and keep your portions to a healthy amount as it is weight loss!
So, if you're wondering what a day in the life of a Nutrisystem participant looks like, here it is.
Breakfast- A Nutrisystem Garden Vegetable Omelet. This is a "fresh frozen" option, and is ready in minutes; simply microwave to heat. I was honestly very impressed with the taste of this omelet. It is loaded with peppers, onions and tomatoes and 2 different cheeses. Add a little pepper on top, and you've got an awesome, good-for-you breakfast!
I also had a Chocolate Protein Shake with my omelet. This helps you feel fuller for longer, and again, I was surprised at the flavor. No, it doesn't taste like a Steak n' Shake chocolate shake, but it is very tasty, and doesn't have that chalky texture like some other protein shakes I've tried.
Mid-morning calls for a PowerFuel, which can be one of many different options. I opted for a tablespoon of peanut butter-one of my favorite snacks (so I'm glad it's part of Nutrisystem's diet plan!)
Lunchtime meant more decisions-there are so many yummy looking dishes! I heated up a Meatball Parmesan Melt. It. Was. Delicious. I am not kidding, exaggerating or stretching the truth-at all. Meatballs, red pepper, onions, parmesan, Romano and mozzarella cheese, blended with italian spices and wrapped in a golden crust. Absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture before it was all gone :( My lunch PowerFuel consisted of 2 tablespoons of pecans. (I decided to take a trip to the grocery store and stock up on a variety of PowerFuels and SmartCarbs so I wasn't eating nuts and peanut butter all the time :)
Nutrisystem also allows for an afternoon snack, which ended up being a serving of frozen strawberries. Just the perfect snack to keep me full until dinner!
And speaking of dinner...this is my first experience with gourmet diet meals, so I was in for a treat! Moroccan-Inspired Chicken is a dish that features chicken in almond sauce with chickpeas and slivered almonds, side by side with spinach and cinnamon bulgur wheat. It is the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy, and tasted great!
Later in the evening I had a salad, and finished the night out with a Nutrisystem dessert-Chocolate Cake. I was honestly expecting a dry or diet-tasting cake, and was pleasantly surprised to find myself eating a rich, moist, chocolatey cake!
So, as I'm almost through with my second day on Nutrisystem, I am still excited about the journey, and looking forward to reaching my goal weight. As well, I like knowing that even when the 4 month program is over, I will be able to stay at a healthy weight, and eat properly.
