Hey, just in time for that after-Thanksgiving stuffed-to-the-brim feeling, I have a great diet product for you. Unlike most other diet plans and foods, though, Zone Diet is actually a doable plan! I received a 2-week supply of Zone Diet foods, and as I was unsure of the method and science behind the Zone program, I checked it out online. You can read more at the Zone Diet website, but the basic thought is that cellular inflammation is what causes weight gain. And, the way to defeat that is to start eating anti-inflammatory foods. Even though you get started with special Zone Diet foods, the program is simple to follow on your own. At each meal, divide your plate into 3 sections. Fill 1/3 with a low-fat protein, and fill the other 2/3 with color carbs (fruits and veggies). This is such an easy way to "diet" and lose weight, without having to count each calorie or carb, or measure out your meal on a scale! Anyways, back to the Zone Diet foods :)
The basic foundations for your meal (breads, pastas, etc.) come individually packaged, and may be frozen for fresh taste. Here is what my first week's package looked like:
Also included is a meal planner and recipe booklet to help plan your week. I was amazed at how tasty these foods were, considering a lot of "diet" foods just plain don't taste good! My favorites were the Cinnamon Swirl Toast, Plain Bagels (with a thin layer of low-fat strawberry cream cheese=delicious!) and the Pizza Crusts. I made a variety of pizzas; pepperoni, cheese, etc. I especially liked adding fresh onion and pepper slices! I was also very impressed at how much this cut down on my hunger. Normally I eat breakfast at 7:30 and I'm getting hungry again by 11:00. Not with the Zone Diet! I was able to wait 4-5 hours easily before even starting to feel hungry! I noticed that I was eating much less, and still feeling full. In my 2 weeks on the Zone Diet, I lost a total of right at 6 pounds! I am still incorporating some of the ideas into my meals, for a healthier diet.
