Once again I have the opportunity to share my ideas, this time while participating with SocialMoms and Simply Orange Juice. I know between December and January, it seems like everyone is making some sort of New Years resolutions, or planning a new strategy for the new year. And oftentimes, the resolutions and changes don't last much beyond January! (I know-I've been there :)
So, here's what I'd like to do. I'm going to share just a few simple changes that will help me (and can help you too) to have a better year!
My first change is very simple, although it relates to something a lot of us plan every year. I'm going to start eating better. Not a wild, all-out diet that won't last. I am going to start making healthier choices, though, when it comes to eating. Instead of a big, juicy cheeseburger next time I stop at a fast food restaurant, I'll opt for a salad, or maybe grilled chicken. Another aspect of eating better that I plan to incorporate this year is portion control. I am the first one to add an extra scoop of ice cream to my sundae...even though I don't need it! Afterwards I always feel guilty, and knowing I ate too much...I think I will have a much better, happier year if I control my portions, and make healthier choices.
The 2nd change I am making is to exercise more regularly. I often start a workout program, and end up falling off a few weeks into it. No more! I have written out an exercise schedule, and plan to stick to it. I always feel better when I exercise, but if I don;t do it before lunch...usually it doesn't get done at all. So, my change for 2011 is to exercise 5-6 days a week, stick with a program, and do it in the morning!!
My 3rd change is something we all know to do, but often skip over, thinking it's a waste of time. Yep, writing a schedule out! I have good intentions every day to get certain things done around the house; a sewing project, a special area that needs a thorough cleaning, maybe a blog post that I keep putting off. You know how it is though...somehow the day just gets away from you! So, I have determined to actually USE my daily planner this year! I will write down things that need done, and that way I have an easy way to make sure I'm not missing something, or falling behind on my projects.
So, there you have it. my 3 (very basic) changes to make 2011 a better year than 2010 was! Eating better, exercising regularly, and keeping to a schedule...all 3 of these will help me feel good, have less stress, and take care of myself better than I have been! And the best part is they really are simple changes!
